Ann Schierhorn

Professor
Ann Schierhorn teaches print and digital reporting, feature writing, magazine writing and editing and magazine publishing with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.

She also teaches the New York Media Seminar, in which students travel to the city to visit media professionals, the Business Media Seminar, in which students learn about specialized business media in northeast Ohio, and has developed Fashion Publishing, a new course for spring 2013 for students in the Fashion Media minor.

Education: B.S.J. and M.S.J., Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.  

Professional experience includes Sunday magazine editor, Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle, suburban editor, Rochester Times-Union, and editor-at-large and writing coach, Iowa City (Iowa) Press-Citizen.  

Research interests: Newsroom creative teams and collaborative storytelling. Also serves as a writing coach for newspapers and magazines.
