Pizza, Praise and Pinnacle Awards for TV2Posted Dec. 12, 2013
How does a school celebrate a two-year winning streak in college broadcast media?
With pizza, of course.
The TV2 crew gathered in early December for a pizza celebration that recognized their impressive wins in the College Media Association’s “Pinnacle College Broadcast and Web Tech” awards. In the 2013 competition, TV2 took home “College TV Station of the Year” awards – for the second year in a row – as well as “Best TV Entertainment Program” for “The Agenda.”
“These awards belong to the more than 250 JMC and non-JMC students who do the daily work of TV2,” said Casey Braun, general manager of TV2 during the 2012 academic year, now a JMC graduate student. “These are amazing people who do hard work.”
“We are continuing our streak of excellence,” said Katy Coduto, the fall 2013 general manager and a senior electronic media major. “So much teamwork goes into TV2. We feed off each other’s energy and passion.”
Gabriel Kramer, TV2’s incoming general manager and a senior news major, echoed the sentiments of Braun and Coduto. “Station of the Year is the perfect award for us, because it epitomizes our teamwork and our habit of excellence.”
Kramer used the celebration to challenge the group. “We are going for three [Station of the Year awards] in a row. We have no goal short of that.”
JMC Director Thor Wasbotten agreed. “Two times is tremendous; three times is the trifecta. Our commitment to you is this: to ensure the curriculum aligns and supports your endeavors. We want to win every year. We can and should be the best in the nation.”
