Sixth Annual Athletics Scholarship Auction
Registration is now open for the signature fundraising event for Kent State Intercollegiate Athletics. Proceeds support scholarships and ensure the sustainability of a first-class academic, social and athletic experience for more than 400 student-athletes.
The evening will feature several gourmet food stations, an open bar, live music provided by alumnus Don Moore, '68, a "Wall of Wine" and the chance to meet and mingle with Kent State student-athletes and coaches. The official after-party will be at Water Street Tavern. Last year’s auction raised $132,000. The event has raised a total of $380,000 since it was first hosted at the MAC Center in 2013.
Guest of Honor
Kent State University alumnus Brian Winters of the New York Jets will be the guest of honor at Kent State's sixth annual Athletics Scholarship Auction. Fans will have a chance to meet Winters at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center) on Friday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m., during an eventful evening benefiting current and future Kent State student-athletes.
Winters was named the All-Mid-American Conference First Team in 2012 and became just the second player in Kent State's history selected to play in the Senior Bowl. In the spring of 2013, he was chosen in the third round of the NFL draft by the Jets. In 51 career appearances with New York, Winters has made 41 starts over four seasons. He recently signed an extension with the Jets to play through 2020. In 2012, Winters played a key role in Kent State's Mid-American Conference East title and an 11-1 regular season. He helped the Golden Flashes' offense pile up the most yards and touchdowns in program history. After earning a starting role as a true freshman in 2009, Winters broke the program record for consecutive starts with 50. He was a three-time all-conference selection and a team captain as a senior.
Auction tickets start at $100 a guest with several table and sponsorship opportunities available.
