Information About:
E-Mail/Network Account
Here are the instructions on how to add yourself to that list:
The Department of Mathematical Sciences maintains an email list that is used to contact all graduate students when necessary. It is strongly requested that every MATH graduate student sign up for this e-mail list. To do so, send an email (from your new math or Kent State email address) to: grad-request@math.kent.edu with the word "subscribe" as the only content in your email. The server will acknowledge that you have successfully signed up for the list by sending you an e-mail confirmation.
Should you ever need to remove yourself from the list, send email to the same address with the word "unsubscribe" followed by the email address you used to sign up for the list.
To send an email to everyone on the list, send email to grad@math.kent.edu. This list should only be used for official communications, or for messages that are really appropriate to send to all graduate students. Do not use this e-mail list to send out amusing stories, etc.
Your Own Webspace
It's good to have your own personal website. You can link your resume, your research results, published articles, and even course homework on your webpage. It is a good place to post notes, or notices for your class as well. Most importantly, it gives people more information about you, especially if you include important information such as your office hours, tutoring hours, office extension, email, etc. This makes it easier for your students to get in touch with you, as well as advisors and potential job searches.
If you would like your personal site linked to your name here, then let the Math Office Systems Specialist know. If you do not have a website, and would like one, then here is where you can go to start:
Help with Web Pages - How to start your web page on the mcs.kent.edu web server. This page is located on our system's own website. It has steps to lead you through whatever you need to do to get started.
