Ph.D. student creates new electronic glossary
Posted Feb. 18, 2011Translation Studies Ph.D. student Leonardo Giannossa created a French English glossary of legal terms based on a corpus composed of the records of the international court in Cambodia. The electronic glossary is available at http://binarysmash.com/flsearchdb/. The search results provide the contexts in which the terms appear in both languages. This type of glossary based on validated terms from specialized corpora should prove extremely useful to translators. The method used for the creation of the glossary can be duplicated for other areas.
