Carol Maier Recipient of Distinguished Scholar Award
Posted Feb. 4, 2010Carol Maier is a professor of modern and classical languages who holds Ph. D., M.A. and B.A. degrees from Rutgers University. Her work comprises two elements, scholarship and translation, which she says she has always considered integrally related. Maier has published widely on contemporary Spanish (Peninsular) literature, with her current research interests focused on translation and its relation to criticism, ethics, practice, pedagogy and theory.
Her current projects include two collections of essays, one of them focused on translation and activism. Maier has won awards for translation, delivered keynote addresses at major international conferences related to translation and serves on several boards. Her publications include 12 books, with an additional three forthcoming, and more than 75 articles and interviews in journals and collections of essays, as well as many reviews and numerous translations in journals and anthologies.
