IAL professor of Spanish translation, Kelly Washbourned has received a National Endowment of the Arts grant for a critical translation, Legends of Guatemala, from the Spanish of Miguel Angel Asturias.  The work will be published with the Latin American Literary Review Press. 
In addition, Deborah Hoffman, a Russian translation graduate student was awarded an NEA for her translation of the prison memoirs of Efrosiniia Kersnovskaia. Out of 102 National Endowment to the Arts applications nationwide, 20 grants were funded, only 4 of which were awarded the highest level of support, of which two went to Washbourne and Hoffman.
