B.S. in Russian Translation
The Bachelor of Science in Russian Translation is a preprofessional degree designed for students to develop the skills needed to become working translators. It also introduces the rudiments of translation theory as it applies to the actual practice of translation. Graduates of the program may pursue a professional degree in translation or go on to work for government, business or industry, for translation agencies or as freelance translators. Majors meet requirements designed to ensure competence in Russian and take five core courses in translation during the junior and senior years. The major features a subject area specialty requirement, which enables translation students to acquire a level of expertise in a specific field in which they can specialize as translators. Translation majors are strongly encouraged to undertake study in a country where Russian is spoken.

Russian Tea
The department and the Russian faculty sponsor a Russian Tea. Held weekly during regular semesters, the Russian Tea is open to students of Russian at all levels, as well as friends of the Russian program. At least one faculty member and one graduate student will be present for chat and conversation practice.
Study Abroad
Through the University's Office of Global Education, students may participate in an exchange program with the University of Volgograd. Intermediate knowledge of Russian is recommended. ALL MCLS MINORS AND MAJORS MUST CONSULT AN MCLS ADVISOR EACH SEMESTER.
- ALL UPPER DIVISION COURSES ARE RESTRICTED. ALL STUDENTS REQUIRE A PERMIT FROM AN MCLS ADVISOR IN ORDER TO ENROLL IN SUCH COURSES.
- Minimum cumulative 2.00 GPA required for graduation.
