Kent State Names Dean of College of Education, Health and Human Services (3/24/08)

 Dr. Daniel F. Mahony, associate provost for academic planning and accountability at the University of Louisville, will become dean of
Kent State University's College of Education, Health, and Human Services on July 1, 2008, Kent State Provost Robert G. Frank announced today.

Mahony will replace Dr. Donald Bubenzer, who has served asinterim dean, following the departure of former dean of the college, Dr. David England.

At the University of Louisville, Mahony served in numerous capacities, including assistant university provost for institutional effectiveness and professor, and associate dean for planning and management systems and associate professor in the College of Education and Human Development.

Mahony's experience includes implementing a college strategic plan, increasing research productivity and enhancing degree programs.

As a faculty member at the University of Louisville Mahony was evaluated as "Highly Meritorious" for nine consecutive years, was
inducted as a North American Society for Sport Management Research Fellow, and received the most prestigious award in sport management, the Earle F. Ziegler Award.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting (High Honors) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, a master's degree
in Sport Management from West Virginia University and a doctorate inSport Management from Ohio State University.
