ADVISORY: Program Change for Kent State Martin Luther King Event, Jan. 24

The keynote speaker for Kent State University’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. commemoration, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, has been forced to cancel his appearance due to illness.

The keynote address will instead be delivered by nationally respected journalist George E. Curry. Curry is editor-in-chief of the National Newspaper Publishers Association News Service and BlackPressUSA.com. His weekly column is syndicated by NNPA to more than 200 African-American newspapers, with a combined readership of 15 million.

Please update your calendars and inform the public. Curry will be available for an audience Q&A and for media interviews.

The sixth annual commemoration, on the theme of “Dr. King for the 21st Century,” will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, in the Kent State Student Center Ballroom on the Kent Campus.

The activities are free and open to the public. For more information contact either the Office of Diversity and Academic Initiatives at 330-672-2442 (diversity@kent.edu) or the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action at 330-672-8075.
