Kent State’s Homecoming Parade To Return (2/11/08)

Back by popular demand, the Kent State University Homecoming Parade is returning Saturday, Oct. 11, as part of this year’s Homecoming festivities.

“As the university prepares for its centennial celebration, it seemed appropriate to reinstate the tradition of the Homecoming parade,” says Lori Randorf, executive director of alumni relations. “The parade has always been very popular, and it’s an exciting opportunity to bring together the university, alumni and the surrounding communities.”

This year’s parade theme is “Salute to Service” and will include area high school marching bands, fire trucks and antiques cars.

A committee with representatives from the university, the City of Kent, the Kent Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Kent and other community agencies has met to begin planning.

If you are interested in joining the parade committee or volunteering for other Homecoming activities, call the Office of Alumni Relations at 330-672-5368 or send an e-mail to alumni@kent.edu.
