Kent State Hosts Leadership Academy for Elected Officials (2/1/07)

What: The Elected Officials Academy is offering a service development program and a service delivery program to help local elected officials understand their policy-making role and enhance their leadership skills.

The service development program features sessions on topics such as community government, legal aspects of local government, planning and economic development, financial planning and management, and intergovernmental relations. Topics for the service delivery program include public works, disaster planning, human resource management, leisure and human services, and effective service delivery alternatives.

The Elected Officials Academy is sponsored by Kent State’s Department of Political Science and the Center for Public Administration and Public Policy with the College of Continuing Studies.

When: 6:15 - 8:45 p.m., Wednesdays, Feb. 14 - March 14 (Service Development Program)
           6:15 - 8:45 p.m., Wednesdays, April 4 - May 2 (Service Delivery Program)

Where: Kent Student Center, Kent State University

Registration Information: Cost for each program is $210 per person. The price includes instruction, textbook, instructional materials, refreshments and parking. Three or more participants from the same organization or Kent State alumni can attend for $190 per person for each program. For each program attended, 1.25 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) can be earned.
