Kent State University students help plant a white oak tree in front of Engleman Hall to commemorate Arbor Day. The tree will eventually provide shade in front of the building and acorns for the black squirrel population.

A ceremony to celebrate Kent State University’s designation as a Tree Campus USA for the third consecutive year recently took place in front on Engleman Hall as the university also celebrated Arbor Day.

Kent State University congratulates its newest graduates. Spring 2011 Commencement Ceremonies took place Thursday, May 5, and Saturday, May 7. The May 5 evening ceremony for those receiving doctoral degrees was held in the E. Turner Stump Theatre in the Music and Speech Center. Three ceremonies were held May 7 for those receiving master’s and baccalaureate degrees occurred in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center).

As a way for individuals to remember the events of May 4, 1970, Kent State University will host a series of events and activities to reflect on the 41st anniversary of that historic day.
Kent State University student Angie Persello started Music Can Cure, a charity which distributes donated CDs to teenagers in hospitals. Persello, who graduates on May 7, has collected more than 7,000 CDs in less than two years.

It’s natural to feel sad when you have to leave a loved one overnight in a hospital. It’s extraordinary to take that sadness and transform it into a charity that reaches people across the country.

Kent State University’s women’s golf team captured its 13th consecutive Mid-American Conference (MAC) title on Sunday, April 24, with a 12-stroke victory over Eastern Michigan at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

The Kent State University Undergraduate Student Government Programming Board presented Flash Fest, the annual springtime concert, on Thursday, April 28. Local bands kicked off the event for free in Manchester Field.

On April 15, 2011, Kent State University's Precision Flight Team received the prestigious Loening Trophy, a perpetual trophy presented annually to the outstanding all-around collegiate aviation program in the nation.
The Kent State Golden Flashes earned a trip home to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Gymnastics Championships in Cleveland, qualifying as a team for the first time in program history.

The Kent State Golden Flashes earned a trip home to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Gymnastics Championships in Cleveland, qualifying as a team for the first time in program history thanks to a second-place finish with a team score of 195.450 on April 2 at the 2011 NCAA Ann Arbor Regional.
