Excellence in Mid-American Conference (MAC) golf has more than found its home at Kent State University and looks to be around for quite a while. This past weekend (May 4-7), the Kent State Golden Flashesâ€™ menâ€™s golf team won its fourth straight and 20th overall MAC Championship by a resounding 40 strokes. Led by individual medalist Corey Connersâ€™ 54-hole score of 209 (-7; 70-67-72) the team shot a three round total of 855. Ranked 18th nationally, the conference championship was the fifth team title for the Golden Flashes this season, tying the team for the fourth most in the country this year.

Faculty, staff and students from Kent State University and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM) came together for a Meet-and-Greet Day on April 21 at Dix Stadium. The event celebrated the collaboration between both institutions. The event was free and open to Kent State and OCPM employees and their families.

Forty Ohio employers traveled to Columbus on March 28 to join representatives from Kent State University and alumni in the workforce for the university's annual Kent State Day at the Statehouse. During this daylong advocacy event with the theme "Talent Meets Jobs: A Kent State Education Aligns with Employer Need," these major Ohio employers met with 21 legislators and other state officials to express their recognition of the important role that Kent State plays in workforce development.

Fulfilling the commitment Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton made to students, the university has began initial construction activities on the Student Green project in the Kent Student Center area, located at the heart of the campus. The new Student Green will extend from the recently renovated Risman Plaza to the lawn area south, creating a contiguous green space from the current student center plaza to Summit Street.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow will headline a concert at Kent State University on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. The â€œCentennial Campaignâ€ concert to benefit the Campaign for Change Scholarship Fund serves as a celebration of the conclusion of Kent Stateâ€™s Centennial Campaign, a $250-million fundraising effort timed around universityâ€™s 100th anniversary in 2010 and the largest campaign in Kent Stateâ€™s history. To date, the university has exceeded its goal, raising more than $256 million for endowment, capital projects and current operating funds, with emphasis on student scholarships. The concert is presented by the Kent State University Foundation, a not-for-profit entity that is legally separate from the university.
