Kent State University hosted an evening with CNN anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien on March 10 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.
It was more than two decades in the making, but Kent State became the first team to repeat as outright Mid-American Conference champions since 1990 with a 79-68 victory over rival Akron Friday night in the MAC Center. The Golden Flashes finished the regular season 21-10, including a 12-4 mark in conference play.
Kent State University faculty and staff members got together for a very special event for the Kent State family on March 2. “TOGETHER: Excellence in Action” celebrated our shared commitment to excellence and showed appreciation for the faculty and staff that demonstrate “Excellence in Action” every day.

The Campus Kitchen at Kent State University, part of a national food recovery effort to feed hungry families, celebrated its grand opening Feb. 23. The grand opening event took place in the Beall Hall cafeteria on the building’s second floor and featured foods representative of those that will be prepared in The Campus Kitchen at Kent State.
The notion of a partnership between Kent State University and fashion mogul Donna Karan isn’t such a strange thing to imagine. Kent State’s School of Fashion Design and Merchandising is recognized as one of the top fashion schools in the country. So it may come as surprising to learn that the new collaboration between Kent State and Karan involves not fashion, but the university’s College of Nursing.
Kent State University student Justin Pierce was invited to participate in President Barack Obama’s “Winning the Future Forum on Small Business” on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Cleveland at the Wolstein Center. Pierce was one of a few students on a panel discussing youth issues.
Kent State University’s School of Visual Communication Design (VCD) was recently featured as a “Top-Ranked Communications Design School” by the popular “how-to” website, eHow.com.
While many college students spend spring break lying on the beach in Florida or working hard at jobs in Kent, other students take the week away from classes to volunteer.
The Kent State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics bestowed its highest honor on the eight-member Varsity “K” Athletics Hall of Fame class on Saturday, Feb. 5.
