Dr. Beverly Warren, Athletic Director Joel Nielsen, and Head Football Coach Paul Haynes will take part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 4:15 p.m. in the south end zone of Dix Stadium at 2213 Summit Road in Kent.
The event comes in response to a challenge tweeted Aug. 13 by Rebecca Windover, an assistant residence hall director, who has a family member fighting ALS.

Kent State conferred 1,636 degrees, including 851 bachelor’s degrees, 462 master’s degrees, 74 doctoral degrees, 227 associate degrees and 22 educational specialist degrees.
The Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University has received a $33,472 grant from the Howard Atwood Family Fund of Akron Community Foundation. The grant project, titled “Encouraging New Voices,” is a collaborative initiative between the Wick Poetry Center and Akron Public Schools designed to increase literacy among students in grades 3-12. The project will run from October 2014 to October 2015.
On March 22, 2014, a massive fire swept through historic Garrettsville, Ohio, destroying an entire commercial block and 13 businesses.
