KSU Chorale Celebrates Spring with Annual Concert (04/07/2009)

The KSU Chorale will present its Spring Concert on Friday, April 24,at 8 p.m. in the Ludwig Recital Hall in the Music and Speech Building at 1325 Theatre Drive in Kent. Tickets are free and the event is open to the public.

Having just returned from their spring concert tour of Northeast Ohio, the Chorale will perform a variety of music, including works by Palestrina, Sweelinck, Mozart, Fauré, Brahms, Britten and Whitacre. The program will close with a few arrangements from the African-American spiritual repertoire.

MacPherson is the new director of choral activities in the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, replacing Dr. C.M. Shearer who retired after 22 years of service to the university and the community.  Before coming to KSU, MacPherson was the director of choral activities for 15 years at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.  Currently, he also serves as the artistic director of two professional choirs, the San Antonio Chamber Choir and the Isthmus Vocal Ensemble, based in Madison, Wis.
