2009 Cincinnati Small Business Owner Planning Program (05/05/2009)

There is a great deal of uncertainty in the economy these days. Small businesses are being pressured on all sides and are finding it difficult to keep their doors open. For those business owners who are at or nearing the age at which they would like to exit their business, the idea of exiting now seems like little more than a dream. So what is a small business owner to do?

The answer is 1) plan for survival, and 2) plan for better times.  While working for survival today is a necessary and important goal, one of the worst mistakes a small business owner can make is to stop planning for tomorrow.

The Ohio Employee Ownership Center at Kent State University and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is sponsoring a conference in greater Cincinnati tailored to help small business owners not only survive the tough economy, but also to thrive when it recovers. The conference brings together a leading team of advisors to provide small and medium sized business owners with helpful tools and techniques. They will help you formulate a plan to navigate your business through today’s issues, looking forward to the time when you ultimately transition your business.

The advisors and co-sponsors of these events are:

Richard Schlueter, President of ComStock Advisors, Inc. a business valuation and financial advisory firm

Ben F. Wells, Partner at Dinsmore & Shohl, a regional law firm, with business advisory legal services.

Tom Zucker, President of Edge Point Capital, an Ohio firm that specializes in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate financial services.
