Ryan A. Kozak Named to the Advisory Board of the Masters of Science in Financial Engineering Program at Kent State University (09/02/2009)

Ryan KozakDr. Mark Holder, program director of Kent State University’s Masters of Science in Financial Engineering (MSFE) Program, has announced that Ryan A. Kozak, senior vice president regional manager of KeyBank National Association, has been named to the MSFE Advisory Board. Kozak, a 2003 graduate of Kent State’s MSFE program, will fill the newly created two-year board position of alumni advisor.

Kent State’s MSFE degree is designed for students with strong quantitative backgrounds who seek careers as risk management officers, derivatives analysts or traders. The program is rigorous, requiring 36 credit hours of coursework, including an industry-based project. The curriculum combines quantitative mathematical and financial skills to address derivative securities valuation, portfolio structuring, risk management and scenario simulation.

“Ryan will provide an important perspective to the program as an MSFE graduate and a successful industry professional,” says Holder. “His involvement will be invaluable to the program and its future growth.”

The MSFE advisory board meets twice a year to perform program assessment, advise the faculty and plan for future development and challenges. The board’s involvement ensures that the MSFE Program remains both focused and relevant to real-world expectations. Board members are industry professionals selected from Futures Commissions Merchants and large corporations to fulfill specific roles on the board. Each member has expertise in specific areas of derivative products including commodities, fixed-income futures, Value at Risk (VaR) and legal aspects of financial engineering.

Kozak manages KeyBank’s Interest Rate Risk Management Group’s West Coast office in Bellevue, Washington. He oversees customer derivative sales in the Rockies and Northwest providing a full array of hedging products including swaps, options, FRA’s and exotics. As a producing manager, Kozak works with the Municipal Derivatives Group, select commercial banking teams and the whole of KeyBank’s Western Real Estate operations.
