Kent State Alum Becomes First Woman to Chair Akron Chamber

Virginia Albanese, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Custom Critical and a graduate of Kent State University, was elected chair of the Greater Akron Chamber Board of Directors on March 18, 2010. She becomes the first woman to chair the chamber’s board in 103 years.
Albanese earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State in 1985 and an Executive MBA from Kent State in 1995. In addition to the Greater Akron Chamber, she serves on a number of boards to benefit the Northeast Ohio community, including The Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve. Albanese returned to Kent State this past December to serve as commencement speaker at the university’s fall 2009 commencement ceremony.
