Professor Walz Retires from the Department of Chemistry

Congratulations to Professor Walz, who is retiring from the Department after 35 years of service.  Professor Walz taught a wide range of classes from first-year undergraduate courses through the graduate level, and he has developed or helped to develop 11 new courses in biochemistry.  He has directed nine Ph.D. dissertations and two M.S. theses to completion.  Professor Walz has published 57 papers in the area of biochemistry (specific interests in enzyme biochemistry); 33 of these manuscripts stem from his research at Kent State.  He has secured nearly $1,000,000 in Federal research funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.  His colleagues celebrated his retirement with his family and friends at the Rusty Nail on May 20, 2010. Dr. Walz celebrates his retirement.
