Fit For Life

*Fit For Life classes for Fall 2020 have been suspended due to COVID-19 constraints*

The School of Health Sciences offers the Fit For Life Program.  Fit for Life is a supervised exercise program for faculty, staff and registered students. Classes are held in the Gym Annex off of Midway Drive on the Kent Campus. There are two time options available. This program runs 12-weeks each semester (as well as two 5-week summer sessions).  

Key Features 

Fit for Life provides individual and small group instruction aimed at improving your fitness goals at your own pace. This one-credit workshop is a perfect way to do Wellness Your Way and achieve the success you've been looking for in your personal health and fitness journey. This 60-minute class aims to increase cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and balance. 

Participants are offered a choice of water aerobics, walking, running, resistance training, circuit training, and boot camp type exercises. Choose what best fits your fitness goals. Faculty and staff eligible for tuition benefits may use their waiver for this one-credit course. Eligible dependents may also take advantage of using the tuition waiver for this credit workshop. 

For employees participating in the Employee Wellness Program, Wellness Your Way, you may earn 10 points for each Fit for Life class attended up to a maximum of 100 points towards your Tier 2 total for the wellness year. Simply complete the Group Exercise Form located on your Be Well portal and have your Fit for Life instructor verify attendance. A great way to do Wellness Your Way and receive additional rewards! 

Faculty and Graduate Student Guidance

Class times will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday and you may choose the 6 - 7 am session or the 5:30 - 6:30 pm session. At time of registration you will select your preferred time. There will no longer be a noon option. 

Dr. Angela Ridgel, ACSM-EP, will be the coordinator and program administrator for Fit for Life along with graduate assistants. Together you can expect these certified instructors to help instruct and motivate you toward your fitness goals through personal modification and a progressive training plan to promote fitness improvements. Dr. Ridgel and her team are here to support you in your fitness goals!
