ACT

The ACT Residual test is available to students seeking admission to Kent State and measures knowledge in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.


ELIGIBILITY

Only students who are submitting an application for admission to Kent State University may take the ACT Residual. Test scores can only be reported to a Kent State office such as Undergraduate Admissions, Regional Campus Admissions, or Alternative Credit and Articulation Agreements (College Credit Plus).

Students wishing to take the National ACT may locate a testing center at multiple U.S. and international locations.

COST

The test fee is $60.00 payable by credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover) upon registration.  After submitting your registration, you will receive an email confirmation sent to the email address provided. The confirmation email provides important details for testing day and instructions to make your payment.  Payment is expected within 48 hours of registration or your registration may be cancelled.

TEST REQUIREMENTS

Acceptable photo ID is required to take this paper & pencil test. You will not be permitted to test without proper photo identification. This photo ID must be an original, current (valid) ID used by a city/state/federal government agency or your school. The school ID must be in hard plastic card format. Paper or electronic formats are NOT acceptable.

If the student does not have valid photo identification, an ACT Student Identification Letter is required.  Please see your school counselor for assistance with obtaining this letter. 

Non-prohibited calculators are allowed during the Math section.

TEST LOCATIONS

The ACT Residual test is administered on the Kent Campus in the Center for Undergraduate Excellence (CUE).  ACT Residual testing is also available on the Stark Campus - see Stark Campus Testing and Tutoring Services.

SCHEDULE A TEST DATE ON THE KENT CAMPUS

Schedule online to take the ACT-Residual at the Kent campus. Tests are administered twice monthly, except during October when testing materials are renewed.

REPEATING TESTS

A minimum wait of 60 days is required before retesting through ACT Residual testing. If the 60-day wait period is violated, the retest scores will be canceled automatically and no refund will be made.

REQUESTING ACCOMODATIONS

ACT approves accommodations for test takers with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 

Eligibility to request accommodations:

  • Professionally diagnosed condition
  • Appropriate documentation on file at school
  • Accommodations used on tests in school due to disability

Requests for testing accommodations including appropriate documentation should be submitted as soon as possible, but must be received no later than two weeks prior to the testing date.  We will make every effort to meet the needs of our test takers.  Our ability to meet those needs will be based upon the staffing resources available and the availability of the testing space on that day.
