Josh Cribbs Named Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal

University hosts its annual Homecoming celebration on Oct. 1

Josh Cribbs, a three-time NFL Pro Bowler and 2010 graduate of Kent State University, will return to his alma mater to serve as the Homecoming Parade Grand Marshal at the university’s annual Homecoming on Oct. 1.

“I feel honored to be the Grand Marshal,” Cribbs said. “I feel like it’s a job well done on my part to be able to have this accomplishment, to be asked to be in a position to represent Kent State in this fashion. I love giving back to, not just the community, but my alma mater. This is a great way to do it and continue this tradition.”

Cribbs played quarterback for the Kent State Golden Flashes football team from 2001 to 2004, starting all four seasons. He is the all-time total offense leader in school history (10,839 yards), and he also holds the records for rushing touchdowns (38), touchdowns scored (41), single-season completions (216) and single-season completion percentage (64.3 percent). He was inducted into the Kent State Varsity “K” Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.

Cribbs was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns in 2005 where he played for eight seasons, making the Pro Bowl in 2007, 2009 and 2012. He also played for the Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts in the 2013 and 2014 seasons. After a 10-year NFL career, Cribbs is tied for the NFL record of most career kickoff return touchdowns (8).

Cribbs will take part in many Homecoming events including the parade, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Fellow alumni and fans will have the chance to meet Cribbs at the Kent State University Alumni Association’s “Welcome Home Party” at 11 a.m. at the new Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement located at 350 S.
