Internationally renowned speaker Dr. Mary Higby Schweitzer will present “How Do We Know What We Know About Dinosaurs?” at Kent State University at Tuscarawas on April 6 at 6 p.m. in Founders Hall auditorium. The program, which is appropriate for all ages, is free and open to the public, with no tickets required. Auditorium doors open at 5 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first served.
Dr. Schweitzer is a vertebrate paleontologist and evolutionary biologist who specializes in the recovery of biomolecules recovered from ancient fossils, including dinosaurs. Her cutting-edge research in molecular paleontology has challenged the way dinosaurs and extinct animals are studied.
She is a tenured professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at North Carolina State University, a Curator of Paleontology and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and Research Curator at the Museum of the Rockies. Schweitzer received her PhD from Montana State University.
Her extensive research and articles have been published in top-tier journals such as Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, Science and Nature Scientific Reports, to name a few.
