KSU Combat Robotics Team

Not long after their attendance at the 2022 Championship Competition, the Kent State University Combat Robotics Team was back in action at the Norwalk Havoc Robotics League’s March competition. This was made possible by a very generous anonymous donation to rebuild the team’s previous robot, which had been in need of a replacement. At NHRL competitions, the Combat Robotics Team faces steep competition, with some teams even flying in from overseas to compete.  The Team’s new robot, Flash-BANG, was built in just three weeks leading up to the competition, giving team members many opportun...

Mycelium Header

A fungus that spent a week inside a grow tent has taken over the MuseLab. This isn’t the start of a science fiction novel, or an episode of “The Last of Us,” it’s “Party of One: Future Fungal Furniture.” The exhibit is the first publicly shared experiment of Britta Bielak’s research on the potential that mycelium, the root-like structure of a fungus, has as a regenerative and structural building material. Two interior design students, Joseph Byrer and Olivia Mansier, collaborated on the application of the project. “We have not built a piece of furniture before and somehow I was a...

Tesla

Jon Jivan, '08, Electronic Media, is a stickler for paying attention to detail. At least when it comes to the family car. In his case, a Tesla Model 3.
