The Kent State University Department of Physics is proud to welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Zhangbu Xu. Dr. Xu comes to us from Brookhaven National Laboratory. His focus is on the experimental study of high-energy nuclear physics, including the quark-gluon plasma and the structure of nucleons and nuclei. Dr. Xu is a previous spokesperson for the STAR experiment at Brookhaven's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and has published over 320 papers, which have received approximately 43,000 citations. Charles “Chuck” Hart, Ph.D., CIH, CSP, RS, DLAAS, dedicated his career in public health to safeguarding environmental health and safety. Hart was recruited to Kent State in 2012 to be the director of the Bachelor of Science Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) concentration, bringing with him more than 35 years of professional and academic expertise. Support CDC children and the Robin McManus Benefit
Join us Saturday, Apr. 20, as we celebrate one of Kent State’s greatest educational resources. Proceeds from this annual event go towards the Robin McManus Scholarship, which supports the Kent State University Child Development Center (CDC) by providing tuition assistance so more children in our community can access the enriching experience of a CDC education. The event will include heavy appetizers, drinks and a cash raffle.
The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)
The Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is a 2.5-hour simulation that explores the lived experience of poverty firsthand through the eyes of real families. The experiential nature of this training helps Kent State University staff and faculty more deeply understand the human and systemic impacts of poverty. Additionally, this event will provide space to discuss ways in which individuals and offices can collaborate in order to best support students facing basic need barriers.
