The Olga A. Mural Simulation Laboratory
State-of-the-Art and State-of-the-Science Technology
With the opening of the Olga A. Mural Simulation Laboratory complex, undergraduate and graduate nursing students will be able to practice and critically analyze results to simulated patient responses to illness and treatment, including medication administration.
Funded-Research Nearly $4.5 million
The College of Nursing’s Center for Nursing Research is known worldwide for their contributions to nursing science and evidence-based practice. With the substantial infusion of federal, state and foundation grants, research opportunities abound for Kent’s Nursing students, scholars, and researchers.
Dr.’s Claire Draucker and Donna Martsolf recently received a $890,979 grant from the Center’s for Disease Control and Prevention for a 3-year study titled,“Adolescent Dating Violence: Development of a Theoretical Framework”.
"Driving the Future” Speaker & Roundtable Series
This is a KSU College of Nursing initiated forum for nurses to discuss issues and initiatives in order to bridge between nursing education and nursing practice. This program features special guest speakers who delve into issues such as the national nursing shortage and how nurse educators can collaboratively transform Ohio’s nursing curriculum.
Nationally-known speakers, such as Christine Tanner, R.N., Ph.D., presented in March ’08 and explained how in Oregon she and a consortium of nurse leaders addressed the nursing shortage in their state while transforming the way nurses are educated using the resources they had.

Kent State College of Nursing graduates have gone on to hold positions of prominence in the hospital and clinical settings as chief nursing officers, vice president’s of nursing or directors of research. Within the past few years, three KSU alumnae have held high-ranking positions in national nursing organizations. (For more information CLICK here)
Among them are Rebecca Patton, RN, MSN, CNOR, president of the American Nurses Association; Linda Everett, PhD, RN, CNAA,BC, FAAN, immediate past-president of the American Organization of Nurse Executives; and Barbara Drew, PhD, APRN, BC, immediate past-president of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
