Undergraduate Programs

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Our ADN program is available at select Kent State campuses. Prospective students should apply to one of the campuses which offer the program, then meet with the director of nursing at that campus to discuss any additional application details.

How Do I Apply to the ADN Program?

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

The BSN program prepares students to become professional nurses. Students generally enter this program as pre-nursing majors until they have successfully completed core science and mathematics courses. You are encouraged to apply to the BSN program, which is called the “traditional nursing sequence” when those requirements are met (usually during your sophomore year).

Accelerated/Second Degree BSN

The Accelerated/Second Degree BSN sequence is for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in a different field and are now interested in earning a BSN degree for a career in nursing. Learn more about the Accelerated BSN requirements, application process and upcoming deadlines below.

Our BSN for Registered Nurses concentration is for RNs who would like to become bachelor-prepared nurses. This program is flexible enough to fit your busy schedule. With offerings including 100% online, partially online (hybrid), or 100% in-person, you can complete your BSN the way that’s most convenient for you.

Graduate Programs

Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Our Master’s Degree in Nursing prepares nurses for advanced clinical roles while making them eligible for national certification as clinical nurse specialists (CNS), nurse practitioners (NP) or to serve in nurse educator, health care management or leadership roles.

How Do I Apply to the MSN Program?

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The DNP is the terminal degree for nurses who want to advance their knowledge of nursing practice and gain exceptional leadership and technology skills. Our DNP program is 100% online and can be completed in less than two years. Applicants must be masters-prepared, licensed as an RN, and certified as an APRN.

How Do I Apply to the DNP Program?

Ph.D. in Nursing

The Ph.D. in Nursing program is jointly administered by Kent State University and The University of Akron. You may choose which university will grant your degree and your diploma will be issued from your university of record. The curriculum consists of five components: (1) nursing knowledge, (2) research methods and statistics, (3) cognates, (4) health care and nursing policy and leadership, and (5) the dissertation.
