OCPM and Kent State

Collaboration in Excellence

Beginning Summer of 2012, Kent State University (KSU) and the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM) plan to merge into a single, academic entity:  the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM).  The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, one of the largest and most respected podiatric medical education institutions in the country, will team up with Kent State University, Northeast Ohio’s leading public research university.  This partnership is designed for one purpose: to provide the best education and training for podiatric students.

The new KSUCPM will offer podiatric students the development of dual-degree programs, such as Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Public Health, and Ph.D. programs in various sciences.  Students can take advantage of programs in the College of Education, Health and Human Services.  Podiatric students will be able to work with all men’s and women’s sports teams that exist at Kent State, focusing on sports medicine that may lead to a new area of specialization in the Doctor of Podiatric Medicine program.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to engage in research programs with public health, biomedical sciences, and of course sports medicine.

The curriculum for podiatric medicine will remain the same, yet with this partnership, it will offer more advantageous resources and opportunities for the podiatric medical student.  From high-tech anatomy and histology/microbiology labs to on-site, clinical training facilities, our podiatric medical education will be among the nation’s best, located right here at the KSUCPM Independence campus.
