Experiential Learning Requirements (ELR)

Students have the opportunity to fulfill the ELR through a variety of options. Your choice may depend upon a number of variables such as your personal interests or the availability of course options in the given semester. Below are three different experiential learning options you can select from:

A course that has been reviewed and approved as meeting ELR standards
(i.e., student teaching, internships, and capstone)
  • ELR built into the course
  • May fulfill multiple program requirements (i.e., Writing intensive, Diversity, and ELR)

Non-Course Activity

An engagement activity that develops student knowledge and experience outside of the classroom

Students must complete 45 contact hours during the semester

  

  • No registration or fee required
  • Students develop an experience based upon personal interests
  • Students build transferable professional skills
  • Networking with professional representatives in your field
  • Have fun serving and learning

 Plus-1 Credit Course

A one-credit course add-on that extends the course learning environment beyond the classroom
