The KSU Flash-A-Thon is a non-profit philanthropic organization benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital at Kent State University. This group works all year-round to help patients financially and emotionally in the Hematology and Oncology department. Akron Children’s Hospital is a member of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a very large national organization that sponsors collegiate groups such as our own in helping these hospitals.
Our organization aims to bring together students from all groups at all Kent State University campuses as well as community members from the Portage county area to “dance for the kids who can’t.” We aspire to build solidarity on campus as students develop leadership skills, learn the rewarding intricacies of philanthropy, and give back to the community that has done so much for us. Students participate in fundraising events all year as well as activities with the Akron Children’s patients. The entire year’s work culminates at a 12-hour dance marathon event, bringing together all those that gave to the cause in celebrating our journey.
The Flash-A-Thon is open to anyone, welcoming individuals and/or teams of any age. Registration is accessed through the website Donor Drive by following the link below. There is a registration fee for “dancers” or volunteers that will cover the cost of food at the event and customized tee shirts. Each participant’s fundraising goal is $100 as an individual or team member.
KSU's first dance marathon for the Akron Children's Hospital Hematology and Oncology unit was held in April of 2013 and raised $14,000. Join us to make the 2014 event even more successful.
If interested in helping out with the Flash-A-Thon by more than just registering for the event, contact email@example.com to sign up on a committee. We can be found on Facebook at KSU Flashathon or on twitter @ksuflashathon. Please help us make a difference in these children’s lives.
