Tutoring and Mentoring

Interested in providing tutoring or homework help to local school children? Volunteer opportunities exist at three local community centers to work with and mentor youth in grades K-11. Programs run Monday through Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Volunteer one or two days per week depending on your schedule.

Students eligible for Federal Work Study have an opportunity to be compensated for their service. Contact Ann Gosky at agosky@kent.edu for more details.

Asia, Inc.

An after school tutoring program in Akron, Ohio. The program runs Monday through Thursday and you can volunteer one day for a few hours or more days and more hours - depending on interest and time. 

King-Kennedy Community Center

Only a few miles from campus and on the PARTA bus line. The King-Kennedy Center serves youth in a variety of programs. The after-school tutoring program needs your assistance on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 pm. 

The Junction 

An after-school tutoring program for youth in grades K-6. The community center is located on Franklin Ave. and Cherry St. in walking distance to campus. Assistance is needed Tuesdays and Thursday from 4:00-6:00 pm.
