Online Learning Team
The Online Learning team is a unit within the Office of Continuing and Distance Education. The OL team consists of two Instructional Designers and four Educational Technology Designers whose primary responsibility is to help design and develop online courses aligned with the Kent State University Distance Education Strategic Plan.
Though each department, school, or college may develop their own strategic goals for distance education, approval and development of online course design is guided by the university's strategic plan for distance education, overseen by the Office of Continuing and Distance Education, and implemented by the Online Learning team (in coordination with "in-house" College Instructional Designers where in existence.)
The OL team also works closely with other university distance learning and faculty support units such as the Division of Information Services' (IS) Educational Technology Support team, Multi-Media Educational Technology Group (IS), the KSU Library (SLIS), and the Faculty Professional Development Center (FPDC) to provide training and support for faculty developing and teaching online courses.
In addition to online course/program design and faculty support, the Online Learning team supplies resources and help to facilitate ongoing research and evaluation of Kent State University's distance education program and online course initiatives.
