Kent State University will host this second annual symposium to celebrate its traditional strength in advanced materials and further launch its major research and development initiative (flexPV), a photovoltaics technology that is enabled by flexible materials. The symposium will bring together academic and industry researchers, regional business leaders and students who have an interest in the science and promising new technology of organic photovoltaics (OPV). This event is free and open to the public.
The symposium will provide a platform for local and national research and industry leaders to discuss opportunities and hurdles inherent in organic photovoltaics, including research, development and manufacturing challenges. With eight thought-provoking presentations, posters and a reception, this symposium is certainly a must-attend.

Fellow of the American Chemical Society (inaugural class of Fellows, 2009), the Materials Research Society (inaugural class of Fellows, 2008), the Royal Society of Chemistry (2008), the Optical Society of America (2003), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1998), the American Physical Society (1993).
Nozik is a Senior Research Fellow Emeritus of the U.S. DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Professor Adjoint in the Chemistry Department at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He received his BChE from Cornell University in 1959 and his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Yale University in 1967. Before joining NREL in 1978, then known as the Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), he conducted research at the Allied Chemical Corporation and American Cyanamid Corporation. Dr. Nozik's research interests include size quantization effects in semiconductor quantum dots and quantum wells, and the applications of these nanostructures to solar photon conversion, photogenerated carrier relaxation dynamics in semiconductor structures, photoelectrochemistry of semiconductor-molecule interfaces, photoelectrochemical energy conversion, photocatalysis, optical, magnetic and electrical properties of solids, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
