Keynote Speaker, Dr. Alan J. Heeger, Professor of Physics & Professor of Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara (Nobel Laureate, Chemistry, 2000) discusses the symposium and current state of the field of organic photovoltaics. 

 

Keynote Speaker, Dr. Alan J. Heeger, presents "Plastic Solar Cells:  Self Assembly of Bulk Heterojunction Nano-Materials by Spontaneous Phase Separation".  Heeger is a professor of Physics and professor of Materials at the University of California, Santa Barbara

Dr. Yo Shimizu presents "Liquid Crystalline Semiconductors: Self-Organizing into the Bulk Heterojunction Active Layer" at the Symposium on Advances in Organic Photovoltaics on April 17, 2012. Dr. Shimizu is the Research Group Leader of the Synthetic Nano-Function Materials Group in the Research Institute for Ubiquitous Energy Devices at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Kansai Center, Osaka, Japan

 

Professor C. Daniel Frisbie presents "Understanding the Factors Influencing Open Circuit Voltage in Polymer Solar Cells".  Professor Frisbie is the Resident Amundson Chair in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota.

 

Professor Brett Ellman presents "When Structure Meets Function:  Experimental and Computational Studies of Organic Semiconductor Crystals and Liquid Crystals".  Ellman is a professor in the Department of Physics at Kent State University.

 

Professor Robert Twieg presents "Photocyclodehydrofluorination".  Twieg is a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Kent State University.
