She is also the first recipient of The D. Max and Cecile M. Draime Medallion Scholarship, one of six full scholarships endowed by a Warren couple specifically for students from Trumbull and Ashtabula counties to attend Kent State University. Back to Kent State University Home Page | Many students come to Kent State wanting to earn good grades in order to make their parents proud. But for at least one Kent State graduate, there was a different motivation. “Throughout my time at Kent State University, I strived to make two very important people in my life proud of me – in addition to my parents,” said Morgan Lockard, a scholarship recipient from Cortland, Ohio, who received a bachelor’s degree in finance in May 2002. In fact, Lockard had never even met Max and Cil Draime, the Warren couple who endowed her four-year scholarship award, until November 2001, when both attended the Tenth Anniversary Founders Scholars Ball. “The Draimes bestowed on me a gift unlike any I have ever received, the gift of opportunity,” said Lockard. She is just one of nearly 400 students who have received full or partial scholarships since the Founders Scholars Program began in 1991. Each year, the ball celebrates the university’s commitment to helping students make the best of their time at Kent State. |
