University policy regarding acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
(A) Kent State University recognizes that the severity of the world-wide epidemic of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the common misunderstandings about the nature of AIDS and the transmission of HIV require a complete and systematic response.
(B) The university is committed to conducting effective educational programs concerning the transmission of HIV and the institutional response to individual HIV or AIDS cases.
(C) The university is committed to providing adequate protection for its employees against occupational exposure to HIV.
(D) The university will appoint an AIDS task force with the following responsibilities:
(1) To evaluate the appropriate institutional response in individual cases as they are disclosed through proper channels.
(2) To organize and oversee an ongoing program of education on AIDS and AIDS-related issues.
(3) To deliberate and recommend administrative policy as needed.
(E) The vice president for human resources will be responsible for formulating administrative procedures for implementation under this policy.
