Kudos to Brian Kelley, CIO Portage County, Ohio and part-time instructor in the Kent-MPA Program. Portage County was selected as the winner of International Government Management Information Sciences GMIS G2 Award.  The County received the award for its  GIS (geographical information system) accomplishments!

GMIS is an international organization for government IT professionals (www.gmis.org).   This competitive award recognizes the GMIS member agency whose IT project exhibits the best example of G2 of the year. Eligible categories were: G2C (citizens), G2B (business), and G2G (government).

The award was given in Santa Fe, NM, at the GMIS Conference, June 12-16, 2011.

The award announcement states, "Your world class program is a shining example of how to bring government closer to its citizens, G2C".

This is a great honor for Portage County and Brian Kelly to receive this award.
