The Department of Political Science includes more than 25 full-time faculty. Recent faculty hires have been targeted to strengthen the graduate program in public policy, and undergraduate programs.
Our faculty excel in teaching, research and community service. Six of our faculty members have been recognized for their teaching excellence by winning University-wide teaching awards. All of the regular, full-time faculty teach undergraduate courses. Research productivity is evidenced by the more than 20 books produced by faculty since 2000 and the numerous articles published in the top political science and public policy journals.
All faculty keep regular, posted office hours. This is the best time to consult with them, but they will make appointments with you outside their office hours if your schedule is not compatible with their office hours. If you are unable to reach a faculty member, ask the departmental secretaries for assistance. If you need to leave a message, call 330-672-2060. Messages can also be left for faculty in their mailboxes located in the departmental office or through voice mail. E-mail is also an effective method to communicate with faculty members.
The department has more than 40 graduate students in full- or part-time capacity. The department is fortunate to have four administrative support staff to support faculty and students.
