Building a Leadership Team With the Right Stuff

Since joining the university community five years ago, President Lester A. Lefton has consulted widely and searched carefully to build a leadership team that sees excellence, inclusion and innovation as the keys to Kent State's future; sees opportunities where others see obstacles; and sees the work of ensuring student success and serving the public good as the privilege of a lifetime.

From campus deans to coaches, the university has acted on the value of developing existing talent and promoting from within to the greatest extent possible.

But whether a leader has reached the top rungs of an internal career ladder or was willing to leave a top university in another state to be part of an institution that could not be on a more exciting or more meaningful path, the bottom line is this: The university has a leadership team in place that, without exception, has made Kent State excellence a Kent State imperative.
