Anthony Donofrio

Instructor (Term)

Blending influences from music, literature, and painting, the sound world of Cleveland-based composer Anthony Donofrio has been described as “spiky, ethereal, and patient.”  His works have been performed and commissioned by the Locrian Chamber Players, the Five-One Experimental Orchestra, the Wilson Duo, and most recently from the Atlanta-based Chamber Cartel.

Interdisciplinary work has included collaboration with choreographers Carly Dorman and Sarah Lawrence-Sucato for the Cleveland Public Theatre’s BIG BOX series, and his music was featured in the Cleveland chapter of the 48-hour Film Festival. He has been the featured composer at a Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion, ComposersCircle.com, and Capital University’s CAPArts festival.
He received the Ph.D. in Composition at the University of Iowa, where his principal teachers were David Gompper, Lawrence Fritts, and John Eaton. He currently teaches theory, composition, and co-directs the New Music Ensemble at Kent State University. More information can be found at www.donofrio-music.com
