Joanna Trzeciak
Joanna Trzeciak received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2005. Her research interests include translation and 20th century Russian prose, cultural aspects of translation and intersection between philosophy and translation studies. She is currently revising her dissertation on Vladimir Nabokov as a Self-translating Author for publication and working on a book-length project on Nabokov and Freud.
She has translated a short chapter of Nabokov's biography Conclusive Evidence into Russian (Zvezda, 1999) and poems of Joseph Brodsky into English (Anthology of Jewish Russian Literature, 2007). Her translations have appeared in The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Tri-Quarterly, The New Republic, Harper's, TLS, Paris Review and Poetry among others.
She has translated and edited four book-length translations from the Polish including Miracle Fair: Selected poems of Wislawa Szymborska (W.W. Norton, Winner of Held Translation Prize) and Sobbing Superpower: Selected Poems of Tadeusz Rozewicz (W. W. Norton, 2011).
