Linda Hoeptner Poling
Linda Hoeptner Poling has been an art educator since 1989. An Assistant Professor in Art Education at Kent State University, she earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction in 2005, a M.A. in Art Education in 1998, and a B.A. in Art Education in 1989. Linda’s positions in K-12 teaching provided the foundation for her passion to prepare future art educators.
She is particularly interested in promoting awareness and deeper understanding of gender issues in art education. Her research threads include the intersections of gendered identity, narrative inquiry as knowledge construction, and equitable pedagogy at all levels of education. Most recently, Linda’s line of inquiry has focused on the symbiotic relationship of motherhood and academia.
Serving future and current teachers, Linda’s highest goal is to help students find their teacher voice, to give it form and a presence defined by confidence in the ability to make a difference in the lives of children.
