Dr. Stedman-Smith joined the faculty of Kent State University as part of the new College of Public Health in August 2009. She has over 10 years of clinical experience as a perinatal nurse, and has been the recipient of over $100,000 in grant-based academic funding. Dr. Stedman-Smith’s dissertation focused on mothers’ perceptions of children’s exposures to pesticides and other environmental health agents using a community-based participatory research (CBPR) methodology called Photovoice. She has authored and co-authored three manuscripts. She was a co-principle investigator on a CBPR study as part of a community health improvement process with the St. Croix County Department of Health and Human Services, Wisconsin Area Health Education Center, and Hudson Hospital Hudson, Wisconsin.
