What is Experiential Learning?
Experiential learning is a process by which the learner develops meaning and insight from engagement in direct experiences. There are many ways in which students can learn-by-doing.
At Kent State University, students are encouraged to explore the numerous ways in which they may learn through direct experience. Whether through experiential education, service learning, internships, research application or study abroad, opportunities for enrichment abound.

The Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement serves as the university nexus for campus-wide experiential learning offerings. The Office of Community Service, Learning and Volunteerism promotes community-based learning, community service and volunteerism as a critical aspect of our students' undergraduate experience and fosters university engagement in the local, regional and global communities. Career Services Center
The Career Services Center assists students with preparing for and obtaining internship experiences that build professional skills, increase marketability to potential employers and help solidify career plans. Career Services also works with organizations seeking interns who can bring new and innovative ideas to the workplace and help contribute to their success. Faculty may request classroom presentations, refer professional contacts and investigate internship options for their students.
