Designate a course or course section for the experiential learning requirement

Moratorium Announcement:

No courses for ELR status will be approved for 2022-2023 academic year. Faculty may submit courses for ELR status starting August 2022, effective for fall 2023. This moratorium does not affect approval of ELR status of course sections and new courses that are approved automatically for ELR (see note below).

  1. To submit a whole course or a specific section of a course, visit the Experiential Learning Requirement website in the Office of Community Engaged Learning (University College) for the submission forms.
  2. For whole courses, complete a CIM Course Management proposal and attached the ELR Course Proposal form to the course management proposal; for help on the workflow, consult the Curriculum Management User Manual and frequently asked questions (FAQ)

NOTE: All undergraduate courses with the following numbers fulfill students’ experiential learning requirement (ELR). Developers of these courses do not need to request the attribute; it is assigned by Curriculum Services.

  • xxx90 (study away)
  • xxx92 (practical experience)
  • xxx98 (research)
  • xxx99 (project or capstone)
