Part I: Essential Information for Emergency Preparedness

Using the Emergency Guide

The Emergency Guide is a companion document to the more comprehensive University Emergency Management Plan.  Where the Emergency Management Plan provides a template for the University’s institutional response to major emergencies, the Emergency Guide provides “quick tips” for the individual response by students, faculty, and staff, to assist them in preparing for, and surviving, the catastrophic effects of those emergencies.   Both share the goal of maximizing human safety and survival.  Purpose of the Emergency Guide The purpose of the Emergency Guide is to:
  • Serve as a quick reference guide for students, faculty, and staff during a pending, or actual, serious emergencies
  • Educate and prepare university community members for emergencies
  • Provide reference links to additional information on emergency planning and preparedness
