About the Race:Please join us for the 12th Annual Bowman Cup 5k Race on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012. The race, named after former Kent State University President Dr. George Bowman, will begin at 8 a.m. Participants can also take part in other Homecoming activities throughout the day, culminating in the Golden Flashes battle against the Western Michigan Broncos. Included in the cost of registration for most categories is one ticket to the Homecoming football game! UPDATE 10/20/12: Congratulations to all the participants of the 2012 Bowman Cup 5k Race! Registration
Online registration is available through Thursday, Oct. 11. Participants may also register in person at the SRWC. All registrations accepted after that date will pay $25.
Check In: Due to insurance limitations, headphones, baby joggers, inline skates, animals, etc. are not permitted. Recreational Services reserves the right to refuse any entry.
Race check-in will take place from Monday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 19 at one of Kent's premiere running store, Second Sole. The store is located at 104 South Lincoln Street, Kent, OH 44240. It is open from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday.
Runners may also check-in before the race from 6:30 - 7:45 a.m. in the lobby of the SRWC. All participants who register after Thursday, Oct. 11 must wait until the morning of the race to check-in.
Cancellation policy: Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person, event or year. The Bowman Cup will be held rain or shine.
About the Course
The race begins and ends in front of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The state-of-the art facility offers plenty of parking, indoor registration, restrooms and locker room facilities.
This USATF certified course (OH10047PR) through Kent's residential area, utilizes the Portage Hike and Bike Trail, letting participants enjoy the peacefulness of Kent State University's surrounding community.
