The Department of Recreational Services at Kent State University is excited to offer weekly themed camps for its 13th consecutive year. PEAK Summer Camps are designed for children
6 -12 years of age. At PEAK we strive to help each camper become more independent, enhance self-confidence, develop self-awareness and develop both mind and body in a fun and safe learning environment.
The Camp Enrollment Form is due at the time of registration, and while all additional forms are due by the Wednesday before the start of selected weeks, it is requested that all of the forms be turned in at the time of registration.

This week, campers will engage and socialize with other campers and staff. Campers express their creative side through a variety of media: drawing, painting, crafts, singing, acting, building, etc. Campers will paint and decorate “the Rock” as the highlighted activity this week.
The Leader In Training program will kick off with an orientation this week. Leaders in Training will also lead crafts, skits and songs.
This week campers will form multi-level teams to compete in a variety of sports and games. Who will be the ultimate PEAK champions?
Leaders in Training will be introduced to broomball this week. They will also participate in a color war at the end of the week.
This week’s activities are water and aquatics based. The highlighted activity of the week will be an extended swim time with the “Big Dog.”
This week Leaders in Training will learn basic water safety skills from a certified Lifeguard Instructor.
Campers will learn about space and technology this week. At the end of the week campers will design, build and launch a rocket.
The Leaders in Training will be the designated leaders of the groups this week, ensuring everyone is working together to properly complete their out-of-this-world rocket ship.
This week campers will transform into superheroes and participate in various hero activities including “save the citizen”. The focus will be on encouraging campers to help others. Campers can also participate in “dress like their favorite hero one day.
Leaders in Training will learn First Aid and CPR and be certified in both courses.
Leaders in Training will try their skills at outdoor cooking and take on the high ropes challenge course.
This week allows campers to be an artistic or scientific genius. Activities will range from science experiments to art projects with lots of creativity thrown in the mix.
Leaders in Training will lead science experiments, art projects and other activities. Leaders in training will also show their genius as they complete puzzle teambuilding activities.
This week’s activities will be mysterious and magical in nature. The week will start off with the campers being sorted into “houses” (instead of groups). Activities for the week will include magic tricks and wizard games.
Leaders in Training will learn how to kayak in the Natatorium in preparation for the following week’s activities.
Aarrrgghhh! It’s pirate week at PEAK! Campers will participate in aquatic and water-based activities. There will be a treasure hunt, extended swim time with “the Big Dog”, painting “the Rock”, and a summer bash at the end of the week to send campers back to school.
Leaders in Training will use their acquired kayaking skills to traverse the Cuyahoga River, Crooked River Adventures style.
Affiliate Fee: $135/week: This fee includes the children of students, faculty and staff of Kent State University and Student Recreation and Wellness Center members.
Community Fee: $160/week: This fee includes the children of anyone not affiliated with Kent State University or the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
Family Discount: $15/child: This discount will be applied for any additional children enrolled from the same household.
Registration deadline: The Wednesday of the week prior to camp (a $10 late fee will incur after this date)
Before or after: $20/week
Both options: $30/week
